bangs head.

No one said you were lying either.

Zarddeath please if you flame some for inefficient farming and I point out that on THIS world being inefficient does not matter so much is no good saying you were speaking generally when we on the UK11 forum?

Also as we all know are other reasons for sending out swords with your sp why say is inefficient when you do it yourself?!
So you are saying when a farming discussion came up on the no hauls forum, no one should comment? (people did)
Maybe that's why UK forums are so dead

I comment to teach people. Thus, I (generally) speak generally, generally speaking. If, in the future you would like me to make it clear that I am speaking in the general versus the specific sense, please make that clear.
Don't simply assume that your interpretation of my statements are correct.

And no matter what the world is, his argument is invalid.
There are other pro-sword arguments, his isn't one of them.

EDIT:
@lastknightofcamelot:
We are (at least, everyone else was) speaking about PRE-LC farming. Mentioning that it doesn't matter post LC holds no weight.

If it is pre-LC then as I said your point is mute because of the distance the speed difference is very small, and spears by themselves die. I don't tihnk you are reading what I am typing.

However I am reading what you are typing

I believe you said you are farming with Swords, no?

So what method of teaching hah what it be if you are not doing what you are saying? Perhaps you should go back and take a look at your posts you may get some tips from yourself if you think you are that correct. Or does speed not concern you that much when it is yourself?

^^ this!!

@zarddeath. No you flamed the guy and you didn't mention you were speaking generally, then you said I was twisting your words. If you are the ingame guru then perhaps wear a robe and have some folks with triangles wandering around so we know?

You said he was farming inefficiently, then you said you send swords too but didn't educate us as to why!

and yes please make clear when you are speaking in a general sense or when you are being specific as now you mention no hauls worlds so gets confusing.

I can write a disclaimer for your posts if you like?

The conversation is splitting swords with axes versus spears with axes, no?
Swords slow spears, by around 30%. Distance doesn't matter with percent, as percent scales with distance.

@ljo
I never said he was farming inefficiently (quote me saying that). I said his argument for swords>axes was flawed.

He was playing inefficiently if he built smithy without losing troops, that I did say. I did not say he was farming inefficiently.

Please (both of you) read my posts in the future, don't read into them what you want to think, or what you think I think, read what I say, and things will be clearer. I have yet to contradict or disagree with myself, like both of you seem to think.

The conversation was Swords and Spears, or Spears by themselves to increase speed. You never mentioned axes. Don't change it now. And Percentage stays the same with distance yes, but you are talking about time taken, and what that percentage represents shrinks as the distance shrinks so I am afraid distance is all too relevant when talking about wasting time using swords.

Axes with Spears versus Swords with Spears would have at least been a worthwhile discussion and it was touched upon briefly by Monty Python who apparently could resist after all. :D

Anyway you stated earlier that at the moment you are farming with Swords. You still havent answered why you farm with Swords when you say they slow it down?

Then you were having a different conversation than I.

Actually I did

No, if lets say you send 10sw and 20sp versus 30sp. At 1 space away, 20sp and 10 sw farms 836 res per hour. 30sp farms 1250 per hour. That is a difference of 414 resources per hour, or 50% (almost exactly) of the smaller number. At 10 spaces, the first group farms 88.62 per hour, and the larger group farms 125 per hour. Same numbers, divided by 10, same percentage difference, 50% of the smaller number.
So, you are wrong. Care to continue with that train of thought?

Yes, he doesn't yet have a smithy.

generally, research cost and lower wood cost. This world, because I have yet to recruit a single troops, so am splitting with both.

So you have no axes, seeing as you had to recruit 10 spears to get them? Infact you only have 10 spears and 10 swords. :icon_rolleyes:

[la]So, I supported a barb... Because I was told to. My troops were there for maybe 15 minutes, as I went AFK. In that time span, I lost 1 spear and 1 sword, because some poor unfortunate soul decided to farm that village. I'm torn between feeling sad for the person or finding it humorous. :D[/la]

And you feel nothing for your lost troops...your lost men...? Their families!

Ok I have quoted you twice but three times a winner maybe but to deny what is in front of us is silly.

That is a fallacious argument. Swords slow your spears, making them less efficient.

Now you can read the quote here

Now as for us not reading your quotes (sorry teachings) properly is very hard when you deny saying things that you wrote? As for disagreeing with yourself if I read your post (sorry sorry teachings) do you do this often I wonder?

Now I merely said why would you say sending swords makes farming inefficient on a low haul world?! Especially when you were teaching (yay I remembered) us not to build a smithy (so no axes) then surely swords would be the best escort to keep the sp alive?

Now I truly spend no time thinking what you are thinking though might change this now pondering what you are disagreeing with yourself about :icon_eek:

"I want cereal"
"No toast you monster"
"back away from the bread cupboard we shall dine on bacon and eggs"
"pfft eggs are for poor saps that disagree with themselves me I'm having pancakes as have some posting (edit: teaching to do today)

Now as for contradictions well you say swords make farming efficient then you say

generally, research cost and lower wood cost. This world, because I have yet to recruit a single troops, so am splitting with both.

Ok so you are teaching us generally and not about this world but still it could be reasoned that.....!

P.s. I have booked a spot to sit at your feet at the next lecture as I think your musings/teachings/disagreements with yourself would make a rainy day worthwhile.

Mathmatically spears are the best thing to send to keep the spears alive. :icon_redface: I would explain why, but I doubt many here would get it, and the lack of understanding everyone is showing in this thread is amusing so I would rather it continue!

Perhaps the mighty Zardeath can teach us all how to get the free Axes without building the 10 spears needed to complete the quest?... Then we can all agree he has greater knowledge than anyone else.. :icon_rolleyes:

But your all missing the relevant points.. the Smithy looks pretty in my village and the quests says build it... surely that's more important than which is the most efficient farming method and what you should do with those resources.. are we not all here to have some fun and build pretty villages or have I stumbled into the wrong forum?!!?

I would. As I have said the spears are no good if they die and you have again said nothing about these axes you have recently added to your conversation to have a point. Your spears you sent above die as you dont hav 30 apparently you still only have 10 and they just got spiked. You now have no res. Now if you want to include axes then the difference in speed is negligable between axes and swords, if that is what you are talking about instead then give those figures.

As for your constant contradicting yourself and other points I think that others have answered well, and will leave them to explain instead.

But your all missing the relevant points.. the Smithy looks pretty in my village

That's the real reason that I built it, but the tree has made the whole thing pointless.

And you just changed your argument in its entirety. The argument I was responding to was that percentages change changes based on travel time. Care to comment on THAT SINGLE PIECE OF INFORMATION?

I haven't :icon_rolleyes:
Except for when I misspoke, I did in fact build 10 sp :icon_redface:

I'm pretty sure that I never said Percentages change due to travel time in fact I specifically said that they stayed the same. What I said was the time that the percentage represents is shorter. If you send 10 runs of spears and axes to a farm a few squares away against 10 runs of spears and swords the difference between them is negligable,
compared to if you took the comparison between the two travelling on much longer journeys, in which case it would be much more time wasted.

Here is me originally saying it and not what you just implied
And Percentage stays the same with distance yes, but you are talking about time taken, and what that percentage represents shrinks as the distance shrinks so I am afraid distance is all too relevant when talking about wasting time using swords.

if you care to comment on that single piece of information let me know.
