Ok, so lets clarify a few rules here, explaining them further and as to just why we have them.
[TH]
Extreme and inappropriate content
Anything deemed politically extreme, pornographic, illegal, or unsavoury in any way is prohibited in this game whether posted or referenced. Racist or ethnic bashing comments are forbidden even if used in jest. Mentioning drugs is allowed, but comments that play down the use of illegal drugs or promote the use of said substances are strictly forbidden. Please note that starring out words or characters like “F*ck” does not make it any less of a swear word. Censored words are still infractable. If the word isn’t violating any rules, it won’t need to be censored. All rules regarding inapproprate content apply also to abbreviations like “WTF” or “LMFAO” and suchalike.

We can't always think of everything and write every tiny thing into the rules, hence the part of "or unsavoury in any way". This way anything that we can't think of at once but is made apparent at the time of the poster posting it we can punish for. This will be swearing and/or personal insults aimed at other users.
This forum is open to people of all ages (otherwise known as a family friendly forum), so we don't allow swearing of any kind. This includes swearing in abbreviations, and the veiling of swear words, using stars or similar. Please note that the rules clearly state that veiling the words either entirely or partially is not allowed.
Now, as for the insults, they are allowed if they are game related, but as soon as you personally insult another player then you will be punished.
In most occasions censoring a word is used when it is a swear word or insult. This came about when automatic censoring systems were in use, as a way to get past the system. As a result it was made that the veiling of swear words is also against the rules, as a way to make sure that swear words would remain against the rules in all cases.
If you wish to play guess the word games where you want players to fill in the blanks, then I would recommend using "blank" or underscores.
