[guide] marking groups on the map

Did you know you can mark groups on the map? Well, you can! Any village that's part of a marked group will have a small image displayed at its bottom left, like this:

1) navigate to the map overview
2) at the bottom, click » Manage groups
3) In the, "Your Villages," section, click » Add own group
4) choose a group that you want to have displayed on the map
5) the page will reload and you will now have the option to configure display for that group
6) click the dropdown box, and you can choose a color for that group, or even a picture!

For each group, you can use the checkboxes to toggle markers on or off.

note: a premium account is required for village grouping

Cheese the first little image you have, what is the .gnp or whatever it is? I am currently using swords to mark my defensive villages on the map, however that is kind of useless considering I don't build swordsmen (normally) I do occasionally :icon_biggrin:

Would it just be;

Or would it be something different?

You can usually see the source of any picture by just right clicking it and choosing 'image properties' (might be called something different depending on your browser)

Can also click the images, which opens them in another window, then look at the URL.

I smelt a troll, but I went ahead and explained for the sake of other people who might not know how to find the source of images (which aren't usually linked)

I believe that what music is wanting to know is if they have an icon code, as the smilie faces and some of weapons do e.g :icon cheesy:

However not all the images have an icon code, like in the instance of the images that cheese showed above. In this case you just have to copy and paste the url of the image, like chees has explained.

Thank you Cheese, however I do not actually type in all of those codes, people keep sayin that I have too many BB-Codes in use but I just type :icon_confused:

I like this but I have a question, Is it possible to share the map (or a link to the map) with the rest of your tribe?

The reason I ask is, I could mark the map with enemy villages that had been scouted as offense or defense, making it easy to see at a glance what's likely to be in the village.

I don't think you can share the map. Its possible you might be able to do something with this though.

I have the TWmap but was wondering if there was/could be a tribal map that could be used on the ingame forum which the whole tribe could view/interact with.
(Ok, maybe not the whole tribe, every tribe has at least one nutter that can't be trusted with crayons But it could be useful for the council members to use but every member to see)

Just out of curiousity Cheese, is this still... Workable? (if that makes sense?)
I'm playing W7, which is V7.0, and under the highlight options, there is this:

Spoiler: Map -> Highlighting

There is, as you can see, no option to highlight own villages. Is this only available once villages have been conquered? ie, you have more than one village.
Furthermore, is it possible to add img url's to the "Other Villages" highlights? As I see no option to do so.

The "other villages" markers are displayed on the top left of the villages, in a circle. You can create "other villages" groups on the map.


The "your villages" markers are displayed on the bottom left of the villages, in a square, and are the only ones that you can assign icons to. To create a "your villages" group, go to one of the overviews (doesn't matter which one) and click » Edit groups.

You can't add any groups to the "your villages" section because you don't have any existing groups for your villages yet.
