Irritating question

Right.. I can't seem to work this out. You see a shirt for £97 but you don't have any money, so you borrow £50 off your mother and £50 off your father # £100. You buy the shirt and have £3 change. You give both your mother and your father £1 each and you keep £1 for yourself. You now owe your mother and your father £49 each. 49 + 49 = 98. Add on the £1 you keep and you have £99. Where's the missing £1?

There is no missing £1. You were given £100, you spent £97, gave £1 to each parent and kept £1.

£97 +1 +1 +1 = £100

You don't add the cash you have and the debt...Silly boy
