Please explain the refugee status to me.


We had a scuffle with another tribe. 4 of our players attacked them. Outcome was a little 1 sided. But they were supposed to be a half decent tribe. In a war against another tribe!, by all acounts of what i saw.


Our next target jumped ship and went to another tribe
We have claimed refugee status. But their duke does not see it that way.

Can any1 shed some light on this.

Well depends some people consider a refugee someone who has lost villages or had incomings heading towards him not someone who was in a tribe that was being attacked. But other tribe will considering being in a tribe at war a refugee like you do.

There are also people who take in refugess will to let them stay as long as they dont ask for support and defend attacks off themself to show they are good enough to waste their own troops on to save him after he already had incomings.

Many people look at it differently, so your considering him a refugee so go get him anyways :p

Silent, I assume this is about WC :) and you are in Old-pros? (too lazy to go and check the ingame statistics!)

My personal opinion is that a refugee is someone being attacked, and not just by scouts.
It is irrelevant whether or not the tribe is being attacked.
SW and OPS obviously believe otherwise

A refugee is someone fleeing a tribe from impending doom, be it there tribe is collapsing or their account is under fire.

I that's being said some tribes will just recruit a refugee and still decline to kick them out anyway.
I think the likely hood. Is that said player is a refugee, but if the tribe decides they prefer to tain their diplomatic record and keep them anyway or try to argue their not refugees there is little you can do apart from fight said tribe or move on.

Yeah they are talking about Rav joining us.

I personally would class a refugee as someone who has been attacked with more than fakes, however in this instance I would say it is irrelevant as it is in discussion with the tribe heads.

For those unaware of the situation I will tell you the reasons behind the recruitment of Rav into WC.

When it was LR and WC vs Cruz and Help, Beano stepped up and unlike a lot of other tribes said they were willing to step up and have a go despite the size difference. I saw this as a rare quality, although maybe a little foolish. But they did and they got stuck in and took a few vills on their first day!!

Ops then came along who we had an NAP with and notioned to me that they were going to attack Beano. My response was that there was nothing I could do about this and that perhaps Beano need to realise that they could not make it in this world with the competition around them.

OPS launched and were very succesful. Ravager had not been hit so I offered him a place in WC because of his actions against Cruz and Help which he accepted. I did this on the basis that he had not been attacked and that his troop count was good, and also on the basis that he was new, willing to learn and wanted guidance.

Perhaps I should have discussed this with OPS but they were just an NAP and Beano were an ally, so my aliegance will go to Beano first.

I can completely understand the frustration of some of the OPS players who had claims on him however I feel I must protect Rav as he stood up with us when the ods were against him and it does not feel right to just leave him in the cold. My negotiations with OPS are on-going and I am happy to listen to reason as I do understand their frustrations but I will always stand by my morals and those who have stood by me.

Not many people stand by the under-dog in this game any more and that is all I am trying to do

Alliance..... Says it all fight side by side. As for ops previous meetings with them..... Not going to say any more lol

Fakes in my opinion count. Maybe not so much on this world with a fake limit, but if you recruit a player and he has just been hit by a tribe who have sent 5000 fakes at him along with scouts but not actually attacked him, that would definitely be a refugee. (This is a real scenario I have seen on .net 1) Even 100 fakes would count in my opinion.

It seems that no two players' opinion of what a refugee is are the same. It's just name calling really.

Personally, I'd say if you bothered to make a declaration of war against a tribe, everyone in that tribe could be considered refugees. If you didn't, only the players you're beating are. Fakes, scouts even nukes don't make for a refugee - you have to actually be killing their troops at the time they join their new tribe.

i agree truth, just declaring war on a tribe and putting a noble claim on them does not make for a refugee. However as I say I can understand the frustration of the OPS guys. What matters is how it is resolved.

Shifty - Why even comment if you are A) not playing this world and B) have no idea what you are talking about? Read my post properly bud, I said there was nothing I could do to stop them attacking Beano and that Beano needed to realise that they did not have the players to win with. I also approached Beano and told them to form an alliance with OPS before OPS attacked and before I had spoken to OPS, but it was only a day or so before their op on Beano.

If you want to know how it went down then cody has the mails and I can get Rav to join here and give his side?

A) Yes I do not play this world, but am keeping up with all the affairs until UK14 because it's interesting.
B) Uhm I really do, I am extremely good friends with one of the high up players in Oldpros for over two years. Going by what he tells me.

It seems this Mycool chappy has a nice grasp of what is needed to be done to achieve victory. By the looks of things he meets, he divides, he conquers.
"Know your enemy", a saying derived from Sun Tzu's The Art of War springs to mind here.
Mycools problem now would be, Will his other allies develop a distrust towards him? now that he's been exposed in a public forum. Only the passage of time will answer this.
What this has to do with a refugee i don't know.
If a player is cleared then jumps ship for protection, yes he's a refugee.
If a player jumps a sinking ship to carry on the fight in another tribe, he's just war hungry and +1 to him.

If you have no relations with the whinging tribe, it's irrelevant.

Now... thats just being mean :p Beano are gone anyways, your source should know, he has nobled most of them :p
