One quick and maybe silly question...since the tech is simple in this world and we have no pally, how can we scout the troops that are outside of the village?

What scouts can see is a separate setting set for each world; for Uk11 it's set to see everything (but you need 90% of your scouts to survive).

Yes, my mistake. 4 for barbarians, 5 for player-owned villages. I forget why (apart from, of course, that it's a setting).

:scout:4 needed to attack any abandoned village
:scout:5 needed to attack a player village with scouts only
:scout:4 needed to attack a player village escorted by any other regular unit

just to be pedantic. however, your theoretical knowledge is impressive. :)

i was hit by 100 scouts, 27 died, so only 73% survived... the report says 'hint:your troops were detected by your enemy'

does this mean just the troops in my village were seen, or all troops including those outside? maybe 2 different messages are needed for the report to say whether just stationed troops are seen, or all.

just the troops in your villa as needs to be 90% for the outside ones to be spotted. Two different messages might be an idea or colour coding on the reports so why not make this as a suggestion?

The troops stationed in your village and your buildings would have been seen by the attacker; outside troops wouldn't have been.

I disagree that it should be suggested, 90% scouts is a piece of knowledge which people should know when to put into use. Rather than telling the player what has been seen, he should try and work it out himself. That is, of course, just my opinion.

out of random interest, what does blue and red dot mean?

It means you're scouts survived, but nothing else did.

I have no view either way but if you want to make your view known suggest you post here as was placed in the suggestion thread. TBH not sure have ever struggled to work out if my outside troops have been spotted but I see your viewpoint.

Blue dot means was just scouts and they have suffered no losses. Yellow means you have won but suffered losses (this is for a def rep or a nuke rep with or without scouts and red means prepare to cry as no one is coming home or you have been cleared and green means you won and suffered no losses either in defense or in attack.

You should as AP has pointed out always check the world settings as with scouts not all worlds allow scouts to see outside troops unless holding hands with your Pally and carrying the telescope. This world has a fairly hefty survival rate (90% need to survive) to see outside troops so would expect a few white defenses going up (it won't save you just means, for me, a few glasses of wine before I click Ok)

just wondering... what is the minimum survival % of scouts to get a report showing troops in the village and/or building levels?

assumed you have sent :scout:100...

  • 99 died and just one survived, you're only gaining information on units still residing.
  • more than 50 of them 100 have survived (= 50%+) information on resources will be added
  • 70 out of 100 survived (= 70%+) you'll be additionally given information on building levels
  • 90%+ survivors of your scout army sent will detect outward units as well.

this scout sys counts for servers with classic research system and simple research system enabled, but not on worlds with paladin weapons set (only the scope weapon is able to detect units outwards)

O really? Cool, I thought you always saw building levels as long as more than 1 survive :)
(That wasn't meant as sarcasm, by the way)
