Why not... Hoang. A good player, and says some useful stuff in the forums.
There would be Adam1501 very helpful.
Alot of people speak highly of Nauzhror and Purple Predator.
There is others I haven't mentioned like BusinessTime, Two-Face, One Hit KO etc.
They all can be seen differently. Like:
1) Popularity
2) In Game Skill
3) Useful Info
When people say famous, it could vary for different things, so you really can't expect a straight answer from anyone would you??

Where it says famous from .uk - is that .uk only? Or simply a way of excluding names from .net and other servers that don't play .uk (at least under original name)

What he means is players that have become famous on the .uk servers. Not players that are famous from the .net version.
An example:
John Murray is famous on the .uk servers.
