Dan – Western Sahara – Turn 7

Population: 513,000
3,291,000 (Mauritania)

Total Population: 3,804,000

Budget - $6 billion

Domestic Affairs/Economy - $5 bn

1) Farming: Due to not so good conditions in farming because of the heat, we will start to use the research into growing crops in extreme heat. Research has already been conducted into it and the link is here: http://southasia.oneworld.net/globalheadlines/all-weather-food-crops-in-the-offing

2) Education: Improve the Education across the country and try to bring it up to the standards of places like Japan and China. Ask people from Japan, China and Russia to come over and train our teachers and tell us better ways of teaching and ask if there is anything they recommend.
Buy more modern things for the schools, expand them where they are too small to get everyone in and make sure there is enough room for people to sit during lessons. Also make sure that there is decent water facilities going to the schools with a few water fountains dotted around.
Buy more up to date textbooks and equipment, especially for science, like microscopes so that we can make people more interested in it getting us more doctors.
Where there are not enough schools, build more both primary and secondary. Ask parents to come in and help teach too if they can on a voluntary basis. Get more teachers to teach in the schools so we can have smaller classes giving more time to each individual pupil and make sure to give feedback to all parents about what is happening in their children’s school. -$650,000,000 ETA 2

3) Housing and Jobs: Build some new, cheap houses in villages, cities and towns. They will be rented out to the poor and homeless and once the amount of people who use them decrease, we will up the price and luxuriates.
Whilst this goes on, the people who would be living here will be sent to government centres were they will learn skills like being an electrician, a plumber, a builder etc. They will be taught by our best people and we will also ask other countries to help with this too. The idea is to make jobs, get the poor employed/able to do more useful tasks and will hopefully benefit everyone. It is very much like the UK’s Train4TradeSkills. This will be done in both countries and all the houses will have internet and a phone line. -$300,000,000 ETA 1

4) Phone Lines and electricity: Make sure every house is connected to a phone line and electric cables going to it. This will give people the chance to use the internet, talk to people with the phone and many other things. It is a basic human right in the modern days and so we think that the people of United Sahara deserve this as a right and not a privilege. -$300,000,000 ETA 3

5)

Research - $

Start improving the artillery we are making. We will get the best weapons experts we can and pay them well to make our artillery better. We will be looking at improving the range and rate of fire as well as the accuracy. We want this to standards that would fare well in war and want to have modern technology used to make the accuracy largely better to insure we a) don’t waste shells and b) get the job done quicker. We also want them better equipped for fire from enemy lines; we will improve the armour systems to again what would be rated fairly highly among modern artillery pieces. Ask US weapons experts to come and help as well as Russian if they will. We will pay them well. - $150,000,000 ETA?

Official Response to Tea and Coffee's plea:

You seem to be mistaken, the current government has been in power since the late 80s, with the evidence I put forward to you, how can you say that Omar al-Bashir is innocent? he's been charged and found guilty of this stuff, and warrants are out in three separate courts against him.

On February 23, 2011, Franklin Graham appeared on the TBN Network appealing for aid for genocide victims and terrorized peoples of the south Sudan. He stated that so far the government has killed 1.3 million citizens in the south only for the reason that they are Christians. Christianity in the Sudan is not tolerated and is outlawed by the federal government.
Omar Hassan Ahmad al-Bashir (born 1 January 1944) is the current President of Sudan and the head of the National Congress Party. He came to power in 1989 when he, as a brigadier in the Sudanese army, led a group of officers in a bloodless military coup that ousted the government of Prime Minister Sadiq al-Mahdi.[1]

Keeping in mind that he came into power in 89:

Since 1995, international rights organizations such as Human Rights Watch and CASMAS have reported that slavery in Sudan is a common fate of captives in the Second Sudanese Civil War and rebels fighting in the Sudan People's Liberation Army in connections to the war in Darfur, while the 2002 report issued by the International Eminent Persons Group, acting with the encouragement of the U.S. State Department, found the SPLA and pro-government militias guilty of abduction of civilians as well.

Al-Bashir is a controversial figure both in Sudan and worldwide. In July 2008, the prosecutor of the International Criminal Court (ICC), Luis Moreno Ocampo, accused al-Bashir of genocide, crimes against humanity and war crimes in Darfur.[8] The court issued an arrest warrant for al-Bashir on 4 March 2009 on counts of war crimes and crimes against humanity, but ruled that there was insufficient evidence to prosecute him for genocide.[9][10] However on 12 July 2010, after a lengthy appeal by the prosecution, the Court held that there was indeed sufficient evidence for charges of genocide to be brought and issued a second warrant containing three separate counts. The new warrant, as with the first, will be delivered to the Sudanese government, which is unlikely to execute it.

2017

The Taiwanese Navy was virtually destroyed by the Chinese Navy this year as the Chinese Navy used it's entire complement of missile and torpedo craft including 100 Houbei Class Missile Craft combined with some of the Chinese Navy's 20 older Soviet Era frigates, hundreds of old torpedo boats and missile craft.

Submarine warfare was less complex, with the Chinese completely dominating sending 12 Kilo Submarines, 13 Song Submarines and 15 old Ming Submarines.

The Chinese air-force have begun to take an advantage over the skies of Taiwan. The Chinese have continued their suicidal like tactics using 300 of the obsolete J-7 and J-8 aircraft to engage the Taiwanese air-force before sending in around 200 J-10's. The Chinese have even begun ground attack operations with Q-5's and JH-7's seen targeting military installations inside the country.

President Onion - Togo

- Campaign done.

- Mining sector invested and mines purchased. WAMC Founded.

- Invest some funds? Money handed out. Many of your own people don't like this and protest on the street (R?) Invest some funds as in in industry, to stimulate the sectors and gather some shares for ourselves. Why don't the people like it, we are investing in a better Africa and supporting our allies - who should do the same in return.

- Port modernization scheme (ETA 1 year)

- Factories constructed, although you need to invite specific companies in order for them to invest. Will I do it now or next turn?

- Nigeria decline.

- Burkina Faso accept, although they want investment of 2 billion dollars every year for 2 years (R?) We accept.

- South Sudan decline. They don't want their defence dictated by anyone else and they have enough force to withstand any invasion from countries in the region. Ask them is it worth taking a risk? We could come to some sort of agreement for when and when not to act on the Treaty.

- Mali accept

- Speeches given, although the North has done certain crimes they have worked with some governments in an attempt to stop the militia's operating in their country. CNN and the BBC do a minor story on this. State about how violence is never he answer and that we are democratic countries and should act, that is why we have condemned the invasion. We will personally work with the Sudenese Government to ensure they do not resort back to past actions, that a stronger nation is made economically and politically... if they would accept out help. (I'll do a peice in my next turn).

- Military stuff done.

New budget: 6.6 billion dollars

Replied.

President Onion - Togo

- Mali accept

President Onion has proven himself to be nothing but a weak leader immediately agreeing with President Silver's talk against Israel. His so called good international politics have not proven so highly beneficial and he humiliated himself with the Israel incident.

United Sahara are a country who can offer you vast improvement to your country and we wouldn't offer a merge to one of our friends without knowing for certain that it would benefit us both greatly. Being in an alliance with Benin and Togo will only help you in the short-term, United Sahara are a rapidly emerging country who are looking in to making the country a better place for the children. We will soon be introducing a free health-care system and we want Mali to be a part of this so that we can help look after our friends. If anything, Togo are showing selfishness in this, they are also trying to grow and offering mergers and we can guarantee you that they will also ask for you to merge into them soon.

They are not trying to be your friends but are rather trying to keep you as an option. We however acknowledge you to be a good country with a strong leadership and so we wish to work with you to help make a better place for all our citizens. Please, Mali, we are looking to help you as best we can and a merger would make it so much easier to do this, however, if you wish to stay independent then we can still offer you assistance with health-care and education as well as infrastructure to prove to you that we care about the people, not the money.

- Government controlled farms still have actual farmers to do the work, they don't know the details of these crops and are quite scared that they could spread.

- Yes Dan. I already responded to your requests on skype.

- They think the money could of been better spent improving the quality of their lives, they would then get more money and donate to international charities to do the work.

- Next turn pl0x

- It's worth taking the risk because they see no risk. After the declaration of war they've worked together with Northern Sudan for the stability of the region.

- Your response is accepted by the international press, who are busy laughing at Silver's failed invasion of Sudan.
